November Preview
Gazing into our unknowable future and offering a pre-election Scorpio Season discount for your anxious heart
That visceral sensation you’re experiencing, as if your whole body is locked in a crucible slowly crushing you as your heart beats out of your chest? That’s a hungry, malefic Mars in Cancer inching toward its opposition with regenerative Pluto at the final degree of Capricorn, symbolizing the end of a 15-year era defined by the cruelties of late capitalism. On the other side, we will be new people in a new nation, no matter the outcome.
This aspect culminates at 6:37 am ET on November 3rd, as Daylight Saving Time ends, just 48 hours before the most momentous Election Day of our lifetimes. It is, thus, the signature aspect of the election. It may feel dark, but accessing joy is crucial now, even as we hurtle toward the unknown.
As we await the American election to end all American elections (quite literally, if he wins), no one I know is sleeping well. The waiting is even more excruciating because our freedom hangs in the balance. Scorpio season starts tomorrow, and the intensity of the last two weeks ramps up accordingly, as Scorpio’s ruler Mars moves within 4 degrees of its opposition to Pluto in the final stretch.
I’ll send out my monthly forecast on November 1st as usual, but because we’re all on tenterhooks about what our lives will look like in 15 days (not to mention the next 4, 8, or 20 years) I’m checking in with you a bit earlier to calm your anxiety (and perhaps my own). I’m also offering a 20 percent discount on all my 1-hour sessions until Election Day, redeemable until the end of the year. You can book here or message me if you can’t find time on my calendar.
I’ve been getting many requests for general election predictions, but unfortunately, I don’t have time to examine both candidates' charts in the kind of depth I’d like to — a deep dive like that can take weeks. But in short, just as the election is being polled (note to self: STOP LOOKING AT POLLS) as a toss-up with whisper-thin margins in the seven swing states — the astrology shows no obvious winner this year.
In 2020 it was clear to me astrologically that Joe Biden would win the election — Trump’s chart was under major stress. A lot of the worst transits Trump faced are waning now and some new difficult transits return in February/March. My optimistic view is that he will lose the election by a small margin and wage a war against the truth and democracy once again, lasting through and beyond January 6th. Trump’s trials will resume and in February/March he may face a steep sentence that will have him deeply depressed or experiencing major health issues (which we’re already seeing). Saturn will square his Sun/Moon opposition and his nodes, and it feels like karma could finally come for him in a way that he can no longer deny or deter.
If you’re hungry for a lot of data, I recommend the incredible work of astrologer Catherine Urban, who dove into these charts several months ago and did a superb job of analysing them using different methods, including Zodaical Releasing. TLDR: Kamala Harris looks like she’s about to rise to power, but during very trying times.
Harris, whose 60th birthday was yesterday, was born on a Full Moon in Aries — very close in degree to the one we had last week. This is, in part, why we see her suddenly so much more fired up and ready to go for the jugular — we’re seeing her natal Aries Moon in action, a position it prefers to be in. Jupiter is currently in Gemini, which is her rising sign, although it won’t go over her ascendant degree until late spring. Her 2024 Solar Return chart, now active, features a Moon in Gemini conjunct Jupiter. On Election Day, Venus in Sagittarius will trine her natal Moon. The other reason I’m favoring her close win is that Saturn is currently transiting her 10th house, a position that often indicates having much more responsibility on the world stage. This doesn’t look like being unemployed by any stretch. Saturn stations direct on November 11th and I’m looking at that date as the possible announcement that she’s clinched the electoral college. I hope for a party in the streets of NYC to rival the one we had in 2020!
What’s on the other side of all of this is Pluto in Aquarius — finally and for real. We’ve experienced a few small bursts of this 20-year-long transit since 2023, but after November 19th, we’re fully in the era of aliens and virtual reality. I’m very, very aware of the way that Elon Musk and Peter Thiel (through his puppet boy JD Vance) are trying to usher in an era of techno-autocracy, one of the darker possible futures we face under Pluto in Aquarius. I’ve written quite a bit about this coming era and you can find a compilation of those musings here.
Yes, the world is dark, fascist forces are gathering to take away our freedoms and our power, as people, to have control over our bodies and our country’s future. We need to end genocide, and if protest is made illegal (one of the many horrific aspects of Project 2025) any chance of doing that will be immediately quashed. Even if you’re a one-issue voter and your issue is Palestine, you must vote for Kamala Harris.
This does feel like a last chance, so I hope you’ll cleave to your joy and seize it. I’m planning to dance my way to the polls. Remember this?
LET’S DO IT AGAIN! VOTE. VOTE. VOTE!
